Former Dundee United and Blackburn Rovers star Kevin Gallacher has backed David Goodwillie's move to Ewood Park.
The attacker is expected to join Rovers this week.
Gallacher told the Scottish Sun: "If David signs for Blackburn then it's a great move for him and also a bargain for them at that price.
"When you look at the sums of money spent in England on players, to get a striker with his scoring record for that is a great bit of business.
"I think he will do well in England. I have seen him play quite a few times and he has all the attributes you need.
"Coming to England is a step up from the SPL and it might take him a wee while to settle.
"But if he can get in amongst the goals early on, which is always key for a forward player, then there's no saying what he could achieve. You just need to look at Charlie Adam. He came from Rangers to Blackpool and just a couple of years later has just gone to Liverpool for big money.
"It shows Scottish players can make the grade down in England and I'm sure if David Goodwillie keeps progressing the way he has in the last few years he'll be a great signing.
"It will also be great for Craig Levein as Scotland boss because he will want as many players as possible playing in the Premier League.
"More and more are coming to England because clubs see the Scottish market as somewhere to pick up a bargain.
"Most are in the Championship but we are seeing them go to the Premier League as well and it's great for the national side. It's good to see Dundee United continue to rear quality young players because they are a club who have always done that in the past."
