Ex-Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew wanted by Sunderland bidders

Former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is wanted by Sunderland.

The Daily Star says he is the shock name in line to be named as Sunderland boss if Arsenal legend Tony Adams' consortium seize control of the club.

Pardew managed Newcastle United for four years from December 2010 and has been out of work since being axed by Crystal Palace in December.

The potential buyers are aware the appointment would be hugely controversial in the region due to the intense rivalry between the two north clubs.

But they feel Pardew, 55, is the man who could lead the Wearsiders back into the top-flight following last season's relegation.
