Ex-coach says Chelsea signing Michael Hector 'just like Bobby Moore'!

Michael Hector's former boss at Horsham is convinced he can make it at Chelsea.

The defender signed for Chelsea yesterday ahead of being loaned back to Reading.

He played 11 times during his short spell at Horsham and his boss at the time, John Maggs, saw enough to draw comparisons to West Ham United legend Bobby Moore.

"I can see a bit of Bobby Moore in him," Maggs, 72, told the Daily Star.

"His anticipation of making a tackle was excellent, he always took up good positions, could read the game well, see the dangers and his timing of the tackle is the resemblance of Bobby Moore.

"Even at that young age you could see that he's got all the potential in the world.

"I was ever so grateful to Reading, he had 11 games for me and was excellent."

Maggs thinks his quality will have attracted the champions' scouting network.

"They're no mugs at Chelsea," he said. "They obviously see the quality in the boy, which I could see very early doors at Horsham.

"The boy was brought up properly, his dad's a real gent and I couldn't be more pleased for him. It's made my day really."
