Dundee United have taken Neal Trotman on trial as they looks to strengthen their defence.
Arabs boss Jackie McNamara is to run the rule over 26-year old defender Trotman who is a free agent after leaving Chesterfield at the end of last season.
McNamara also wants to sure up a deal for ex-Portsmouth winger Nadir Ciftci but has cut other trialists Graham Carey and Jean Yves Koue.
"We won't be pursuing Graham Carey or Jean Yves Koue, but we've taken Neal Trotman on trial and hope to keep Nadir at the club," he said.
Trotman, who has also played for Oldham Athletic, Southampton and Huddersfield Town during his career, made 31 League Two appearances for the Spireites last campaign.
