Ex-Chelsea, Tottenham star Poyet happy for Brighton to fly under the radar ahead of Newcastle clash

Gus Poyet is not bothered that his Brighton & Hove Albion side will be underdogs for this weekend's FA Cup meeting with Newcastle United.

The Seagulls host the Magpies at Amex Stadium in the fourth round on Saturday and the former Chelsea and Tottenham striker admits he is not really feeling any pressure ahead of the visit of Alan Pardew and his men.

"It's a cup game and you always have a chance," Poyet said.

"But saying that, in terms of their quality, their performances and the way that they have been playing, you would say that Newcastle are favourites.

"That's not me trying to put pressure on Newcastle or trying to play any mind games that is just the reality. It's one game and with the atmosphere and the players' excitement, it will be a great game.

"We will need to be very good and we need to be playing the way we did against Sunderland (in the Carling Cup in August), because we were very good defensively and going forward.

"We were decent against Liverpool and that's what makes us think that maybe we had a chance. We need to make sure that we are very good on the day."
