Expansion franchise Portland Timbers are getting set for their first home MLS game this weekend and there is hope that they can find the back of the net straight away.
The Timbers have played their first three top flight matches away from home which has yielded them two losses and a draw and sees them sitting ninth of 10 on the Western Conference table.
But the form of the team has been promising as they have continued to create chances despite scoring just twice so far.
MLS stats show that the Timbers have had 34 attempts on goal in their opening three matches which is something that has head coach John Spencer remaining positive ahead of Friday night's first match at PGE Park against Chicago Fire.
"We're creating chances," Spencer said.
"If we weren't creating chances for the forwards to miss them or score them, then we'd be really concerned."
The former Chelsea striker knows that goalscoring is possibly the hardest part of the game so will remain patient as his players continue to gel together early in the season.
"I missed a lot more than I scored. If you scored on every chance, then you'd have 700, 800 goals in your career," he added. "But that's not the way it happens."
