Ex-Chelsea striker Spencer in hot water for criticizing MLS officials

Portland Timbers head coach John Spencer is likely to receive a fine from Major League Soccer's disciplinary committee for criticizing match officials on the weekend.

The former Chelsea striker was ejected from the match against Colorado Rapids on Saturday night for arguing with the officials and for making comments about referee Abiodun Okulaja.

MLS executive vice-president of communications Dan Courtemanche said the incident will be reviewed whilst Spencer said he expected to be hit with a fine.

"The league will review (Spencer's) comments," Courtemanche said.

"I'm sure there will be a followup midweek regarding if there will be any fine or other punishment to John Spencer.

"They'll review it Monday and Tuesday and we should have an announcement either Wednesday or Thursday as to whether there will be a fine or not."

Spencer said: "Get my fine, I'll do the time."
