Ex-Chelsea striker Shevchenko: Blues experience will help against Barcelona

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is confident his former club can do well against Barcelona tonight.

The Blues host the Catalan giants in the Champions League semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge and the Dynamo Kiev ace feels the experience of some of his old teammate can help the West Londoners to a positive result.

"Chelsea have a chance because the last couple of games Chelsea played very well and beat Tottenham in a very important game," Shevchenko told Sky Sports News in Kiev.

"All my old partners' experience of European football will help. Frank Lampard, John Terry, Didier Drogba, as well as the young players and [Branislav] Ivanovic.

"I think it will be a nice game and I hope Chelsea will win."

He added: "It has been a very difficult season for Chelsea, but maybe they can play in the final, you never know.

"They are not in a good position now in the league because I think for Chelsea the team is always fighting to win the Premier League.

"Now, they have to think about the Champions League. I think Chelsea can change everything in one game."
