Ex-Chelsea, Man Utd star Bosnich to take North Queensland Fury reins

Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa goalkeeper Mark Bosnich will step in to guide A-League club North Queensland Fury in their clash with Newcastle Jets on Wednesday.

The Fury will be without regular head coach Franz Straka and assistant Stuart McLaren for their Week 11 fixture with the Jets after being suspended by the A-League Disciplinary Committee for breaching the national code of conduct.

The pair were involved in an incident with match officials at half-time of their 3-2 loss to the Central Coast Mariners in Week 9 and have been forced to sit out of the clash with the Jets this week.

The Fury have asked former Socceroos gloveman and current Fox Sports pundit Bosnich to help football operations manager Robbie Middleby take charge of the team for the game and the 38-year old was delighted to help.

"When the Fury asked if I would be interested in helping out the club next week, ahead of and during the Newcastle match, I jumped at the chance," he said.

"I'm a big fan of the Fury, particularly the enterprising style of football they play and the exciting talent they have throughout the squad. I have huge respect for Franz Straka and what he has achieved under challenging circumstances this season and I consider it an honour to be asked to help train his team next week."
