Ex-Chelsea, Man Utd keeper Bosnich rates Reading's Federici

Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa goalkeeper Mark Bosnich is a huge wrap for Reading's Adam Federici. 38-year old Bosnich, now a commentator on Fox Sports, is of firm belief that Federici is ready for the English Premier League.

The 25-year old gloveman has been with the Championship club since 2004 and after making the number one position his own in the past few seasons and getting a few chances with the Socceroos, is ready for the top flight according to Bosnich.

"He was excellent and he deserves to get pumped up and, after watching the Poland game, have to say, yes, he's ready for the Premier League," Bosnich said.

"To handle a match like that coming from the Championship was exceptional. Not only the penalty, which is huge for confidence, but his kicking was decent and he made some saves look really easy."

Bosnich added that Federici should really be pushing current national team gloveman Mark Schwarzer especially now there is a new coach at the helm.

"Adam should be thinking, 'Mark can't go on forever and I want to stake my claim for No. 1, not just for the future but for now'," he added.

"Schwarzy was exceptional against Switzerland, but he had a disappointing World Cup.

"I don't know what Holger Osieck would be thinking, but there's nothing better for a manager than having two players for each position if you want to be a top team. When I look back at my best times, I was under pressure from another keeper and competition for your places is only a good thing."
