Former Chelsea junior Sam Walker has told the FA Youth Cup winners they have no chance of making it at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues youngsters lifted the trophy for the fifth time in seven years with a two-legged victory over Manchester City.

Walker was the goalkeeper when the west Londoners won the FA Youth Cup for the first time under owner Roman Abramovich's reign six years ago.

Now at League One Colchester, the stopper, 24, told The Sun: “When you win the FA Youth Cup you are riding on the crest of a wave.

“For the first time in your career you are getting noticed.

“It gives you not only a hunger and a desire for more, but a belief this is what is in store for you in a few years when you reach the first team.

“You want to kick on and use it as a motivation to progress your career.

“But I can say now, after the way things went at Chelsea, I don't think any of the boys who won the other night should be under the illusion they are going to make it there.

“I can tell you it's an incredibly tough thing to do. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and luck. There's a slight chance something might work out for you, but don't bank on it."
