Ex-Chelsea keeper Beasant unimpressed by Torres

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Dave Beasant says its high time Fernando Torres rediscovered his best form.

Beasant feels it is about time the 28-year-old hotshot regained his form of old after being selected as Roberto Di Matteo's first choice forward.

He told talkSPORT: "He doesn't look happy in his own world when he's on the football pitch. Before when he was at Liverpool he was happy, he was scoring goals.

"He has got to stand up and be counted now. He's got that striker's role on his own. He's not got the threat of Didier Drogba. He now knows that he's the man.

"That could be a problem there for Chelsea that he is the one striker that we've got at the moment so if he's not putting the ball in the back of the net you've got to rely on goals coming from the midfield area, from the wide areas and the evergreen Frank Lampard.

"It is time that he gets his act in gear. I like him. I like his workrate, you can't fault him for the effort that he puts in for the team. He goes into the wide areas where some strikers don't want to go."
