Ex-Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho follows Oscar to Shanghai SIPG

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho has signed for Shanghai SIPG.

The Chinese Super League outfit now has a strong Blues presence, as they are managed by ex-boss Andre Villas-Boas and also landed Oscar for a reported £52m earlier in the transfer window, reports The Sun.

The AFC's Champions League's Twitter account – not the club's – have reported the signing of the 38-year-old, who helped his side win Euro 2016 this summer.

Villas-Boas revealed Carvalho, a free agent since leaving Monaco at the end of the 2015-16 Ligue 1 campaign, has been training with the club in the last few days.

He said: “His CV makes it impossible for me to doubt his considerable stature among his peers. I'm impressed by the composure he showed on his first day of training. Right now he's just training with us. We'll make a decision in due time."
