Ex-Chelsea defender Mancienne flattered by Keegan comparison

Former Chelsea defender Michael Mancienne is excited about his move to Hamburg.

He signed a four-year deal to move from Chelsea at the beginning of June and will link up again with former Blues technical director Frank Arnesen at his new club.

The versatile defender - who spent last year on loan at Wolves - spoke in English at yesterday's press conference, but was enthusiastic about his long-term future in Germany and vowed to pick up the language.

He said: "I will follow my teacher's instructions so I can communicate with everyone quickly. It has always been my goal to play abroad."

Mancienne was flattered when the comparison was made with fellow Englishman Kevin Keegan, who won the European Player of the Year award while at the club in the late 1970s.

"Keegan is one of the greatest and a legend. I'll do my best to follow in his footsteps."
