Ex-Chelsea boss Scolari set to take Brazil reins

Luiz Felipe Scolari is set to be appointed as the new manager of the Brazil national team.

Luiz Felipe Scolari is set to be appointed as the new manager of the Brazil national team.

The 64-year old former Chelsea, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro boss is on the verge of taking over for his second spell in charge of A Selecao following his stint in 2001-2002.

Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) president Jose Maria Marin indicated that Scolari’s experience would be the right quality to lead Brazil in the2014 World Cup finals in their homeland.

"We did a thorough evaluation, we analysed various elements and especially experience," he told Jornal O Globo.

"A World Cup requires above all a lot of ability and experience."

The CBF last week sacked Mano Menezes after two years at the helm and are now likely to re-employ Scolari.
