Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho contacted by England FA

The FA have made contact with representatives of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho about taking charge of England.

The Daily Express says as Steve McClaren was being sacked by chief executive Brian Barwick yesterday morning, Mourinho's representatives were receiving calls asking whether he would take the job. But to stand any chance of getting the Portuguese, the FA would have to at least double the £2.5million a year that they paid McClaren.

A friend of Mourinho said: "The phones of Jose's representatives were going crazy yesterday morning. The calls were not directly from the FA and there has not been an official approach, but they want to know if he is interested. A lot will depend on what his family think, because Jose is very happy at the moment and he has no problems."
