The Daily Mail is reporting that former Chelsea boss Avram Grant is being lined up as a possible replacement for Guus Hiddink as Russia manager. This would allow Dutchman Hiddink to remain with Chelsea despite his insistence that he intends to return to Moscow at the end of this season.
The rumours were fuelled by Grant's presence in Russia at a game also attended by Chelsea owner and Russian national team benefactor Roman Abramovich.
"I'm on a private visit here," insisted Grant.
The Israeli coach did nothing to rule out taking over a Russian club - or even the national team if Guus Hiddink stays on at Stamford Bridge. "Is it possible that I'll take a job in Russia? My answer is: nothing can be ruled out."
