Leeds United striker Mikael Forssell knows he will have to remain patient before becoming a regular starter for Simon Grayson.
The 30-year old Finland international has made five substitute appearances since arriving at Elland Road from German club Hannover at the start of September but accepts that the current Whites strikeforce of Ross McCormack and Andy Keogh is getting the job done at present.
"As a striker, you want to play and score goals. But the situation is very clear - the team have done well and we have two strikers in form. I accept it's very difficult to change that," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"If there's a slump then I'm sure the manager trusts me enough to give me a go but for a team to go forward, you want to win games.
"That's what we're doing. I have to wait for my turn and at the same time respect the strikers who are currently playing.
"Sometimes a chance comes when you expect it least and I know this division. I played in it with Crystal Palace when I was younger and for a striker it's all about putting your body in there and, when you get the chance, putting the ball in the net.
"I believe I can do that. It was disappointing not to be on the bench against Peterborough but what happened was fantastic."
