Hertha Berlin forward Salomon Kalou is facing a huge fine after damaging the famous Berlin Wall.
The Ivory Coast international, 29, was filmed with a hammer and chisel chipping off a piece of the Wall at Eastside Gallery for a local TV program.
Destroying the Berlin Wall comes at a hefty price of around 10,000 which Kalou is facing after being charged with vandalizing the site.
Eastside Gallery chairman Kani Alavi told the Berliner Kurier: "I nearly fell off the sofa when I saw the footage.
"Here we have a well-paid celebrity increasing his market value at the expense of a national monument. Without respect. And with the clear backing of television.
"Just because there is no security patrolling the Gallery, doesn't mean you can go around doing what you want. If he had done that at the Brandenburg Gate, the player would probably have been arrested."
