Former Charlton Athletic boss Alan Curbishley is delighted seeing Scott Parker wining plaudits at Tottenham.

Curbishley believes that, with Parker anchoring their midfield, there is no reason for Tottenham's top-four challenge to falter.

"I was surprised that more clubs didn't come in for him because there's no one better in that holding role than Scott," said Curbishley in the Sunday Mirror.

"He did it for me at Charlton for years. He's so quick over 10 yards, he makes tackles, he can win the ball and give it simple.

"They'll be in contention for a place in that top four, no doubt."
