Ex-Celtic winger McCourt would prefer MLS move

Paddy McCourt would prefer a move to Major League Soccer according to his brother and agent Leroy.

The 29-year old Northern Ireland winger, who left Celtic at the end of last season, is training with Hibernian in a bid to keep fit as he searches for a new club.

McCourt has had trial spells with Blackpool and Peterborough United this summer, and has also been linked with Birmingham City, but his representative says he wants to move to the USA.

"It is really just to keep his fitness up. Paddy knows the (Hibs) manager (Pat Fenlon) from their time at Derry," said Leroy McCourt.

"He has just been in today to have a look around and do a bit of training. It has always been his intention to go to America.

"It's 99 per cent nailed on that he will go over there. He doesn't want to uproot his family at this stage of the season there."
