Jackie McNamara is set to be appointed as Dundee United's new manager on Wednesday.

The 39-year old former Celtic defender will depart First Division club Partick Thistle to beat Falkirk's Steve Pressely to the job according to reports.

The Arabs lost Peter Houston earlier this week and chairman Stephen Thompson has been mulling over a decision with the result believed to be the impending appointment of McNamara who will oversee his first United match against Rangers in the Scottish Cup on the weekend.
