Artur Boruc has revealed that he was close to signing with QPR before Julio Cesar was snapped up from Inter Milan.

The former Celtic goalkeeper decided to leave Italian club Fiorentina earlier this summer and says he almost became an R's player prior to the West London club swooping for Brazilian gloveman Cesar.

Serie A with Fiorentina," said Boruc, who is still on the hunt for a new club.

"I was offered an extension with Fiorentina but felt it was the right time for a change and have had several other offers which just didn't feel right at the time.

"I almost signed with QPR before Julio Cesar became available but despite that I am looking forward to my next challenge."
