Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has revealed that the names of three managers on the club’s shortlist.

Forest sacked Billy Davies earlier this week and are now on the hunt for his replacement with Malky Mackay, Steve Clarke and Gianfranco Zola all being considered.

Kuwaiti businessman Al Hasawi has seen possible deals for Neil Warnock and Stuart Pearce fall over while Roberto Di Matteo is unable to take the role due to his last contract at Chelsea.

However, Al Hasawi can confirm that former Cardiff City boss Mackay, ex-West Bromwich Albion gaffer Clarke and former Chelsea star and West Ham United and Watford manager Zola are in the frame.

"Steve Clarke, Malky Mackay and Gianfranco Zola are on the list, yes, but there are things I would like to mention because I have not spoken to them, I have spoken with their agents,” he told Sky Sports News.

"Every single manager we wanted to take they say he is on gardening leave or he has some problem with his former club, or they say 'we don't want to do it right now, we want to do it in the summer'.

"Many managers want to start at the beginning of the season – most of them do.

"They don't like to start for the last eight games. Zola is someone who wants to start in the summer.

"I don't want to say I am near to appointing someone right now because every second I have a phone call regarding a manager.

"You never know, maybe tonight we hear something positive and we go for it, but I don't want to rush.

"I want to pick the right manager. We know what the fans want and what they don't want and what will make them happy, and if we are going to pick anybody I am sure they will be happy."
