Ex-Burnley boss Pashley hoping Southampton's Rodriguez makes England WC squad

Terry Pashley admits it would be a great thrill of Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez was selected in England's World Cup squad.

The 24-year old made his Three Lions debut in a friendly against Chile last month and now Pashley, who managed him at Burnley, would love it if he could sneak into Roy Hodgson's final roster for next year's FIFA tournament in Brazil.

"It was a fantastic feeling to see Jay Rodriguez make his debut for England, having played a small part in his development," he wrote for the Telegraph.

"We spoke to each other before he played against Chile. I sent him a voicemail congratulating him and he rang me back just to thank me for all the work we had done together. I have never seen any of our boys play in the World Cup and it would be very special if Jay makes it to Brazil."
