Ex-Brisbane Roar captain Moore: Don't expand A-League

Former Brisbane Roar captain Craig Moore believes it is too soon to expand the A-League any further. The competition is set to welcome its 11th club next season when the Melbourne Heart enters the fray but Moore believes that number is enough and that Football Federation Australia should leave it there until all clubs are established further.

"The numbers we've got now as far as the amount of teams I think is right at the moment," Moore said.

"As time goes on and we develop a lot of things in the game and get a bit more depth then we can look at (expansion).

"But at the moment we're not in a position to do that.

"We have to try and produce an entertaining league and a competitive league, that's the most important thing at this point in time."

The Australian international also wants the issue of falling attendance numbers addressed so the league can prosper in the long run.

"I strongly believe something had to be done because our crowds have dropped away ... we really need to start getting more bums on seats," he added.

"There's no getting away from it, it's certainly a test at the moment.

"We're still only six years old as a league and I think that we'll be okay but it's important that we sort out the problems now.

"It is a slight concern but I think we'll come through it."
