Australian national team captain Lucas Neill is being heavily linked with a move to new A-League club Western Sydney.
The 34-year old defender is out of contract after being released by UAE club Al Jazira with recent reports suggesting he could be on his way back to Australia to continue his career.
Neill is being tipped to sign a marquee deal with Western Sydney, who are preparing for their first season in the A-League next campaign, with the clubs recently-appointed chief executive Lyall Gorman suggesting there will be plenty of interest in the Socceroos skipper.
''There wouldn't be a club official in the A-League who wouldn't be interested in securing Lucas's services,'' Gorman told Fox Sports.
Neill has had an extensive stay away from home, kicking off his career with Millwall back in 1995, before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 2001 and then West Ham United in 2007 (he was captain at both clubs). The Sydney-born defender then had a short spell with Everton in 2009 before making the move to Turkey with Galatasaray in 2010 and onto Al Jazira last year.
