Ex-Blackburn star Emerton: Del Piero influence could see Sydney FC land a big-name coach
Sydney FC star Brett Emerton feels the club does not need to rush into finding a new head coach.
The Sky Blues lost Ian Crook who stepped down from the role last week with Steve Corica taking over as caretaker coach.
Emerton believes that with Corica in charge for now, it gives the club time to thoroughly go through the applicants and find the man who is right to lead the two-time A-League champions back to glory.
"It's not panic stations. I think the club should take their time and make sure they appoint the right manager," Emerton told AAP.
"In Steve Corica and the staff he's got around him, we're in good hands at the moment.
"Let's not panic, let's see what's available and get the right man."
Former Chelsea managers Avram Grant, and Gianluca Vialli are among the names linked with the job as well as ex-Manchester United captain Roy Keane and local candidates including Ernie Merrick, Frank Farina and Miron Bleiberg.
"I wouldn't be surprised if there are some big names putting their hand up for the job."
