Former Birmingham City striker Christian 'Chucho' Benitez has reportedly revealed that he turned down an offer from Celtic to join a Mexican club.
The 25-year old Ecuador international has signed with Club America from rivals Santos Laguna, who are actually Celtic's feeder club in Mexico.
Benitez, who spent the 2009/10 season on loan at St Andrew's, admitted that Celtic were interested but he has decided to remain in the Mexico Primera Division where he has scored over 50 goals in less than 100 appearances.
"There was an offer from Celtic, but I didn't take it," Benitez said.
