Steve Bruce has paid tribute to Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba.

Bruce took Muamba to Birmingham City on loan from Arsenal in 2006 and made the move permanent in a £2million deal a year later.

He said: "Because of his background coming over from the Congo as a political refugee, and what he had been through over there, he was always very humble and respectful.

"And I think the biggest thing that drove him to be a success was that he wanted to be able to look after his family."
