Ex-Benfica, Monaco forward Adu to train with Athletes' Performance

Freddy Adu will continue his search to find a new club by training with Athletes' Performance in Arizona.

The 24-year old former DC United and Real Salt Lake star is without a club after his release from Brazilian outfit Bahia this month.

Adu, who has spent time with the likes of Benfica, AS Monaco and Philadelphia Union, will now spend time keeping fit and honing his skills at the refuge for professional and elite athletes.

Former IMG Academy chief Trevor Moawad, who has a new role with AP, confirmed that Adu would come to Arizona as he goes about sorting out the next phase of his career.

"With Freddy, it's a tougher stretch for him right now," Moawad told the Seattle Times.

"He's out of contract and trying to figure out what he's going to do next. I think he'll probably come out to Arizona and train, unless he can get signed somewhere.

"Obviously the transfer window will not matter for Freddy because he's not with a team, so he can sign whenever if someone will give him a shot."
