Bojan Krkic was taking a rational approach to his season-ending knee injury with Stoke City.
The in-form Spanish forward will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign after sustaining a cruciate ligament injury in the first half of Monday night's 4-1 win FA Cup fourth round win over Rochdale.
Bojan had been Stoke's best performer for the past few months and his absence will be a felt heavily by the Potters but manager Mark Hughes says there is little both the player and the club can do about it.
"I think he is very philosophical about it," Hughes said.
"He understands these things happen - I think his first words to me were 'that's football', and that is what it is like. There is no rhyme or reason to the injury, it is just a million-to-one chance.
"He is very positive. He is looking to be back for pre-season, and if everything goes well, that might be an outside chance. He is very strong mentally and will come through it and be stronger for it."
