Former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal admits he enjoyed his involvement in the club's election this summer.

Abidal was part of Joan Laporta's ticket and was to be his sports director.

He told RMC: "I am disappointed, yes, in relation to the candidacy ... Now , you must know that Joan had offered me a job which was very interesting (sporting director).

"It's true that during the election campaign I had to share time with him, including future recruits, I really liked it.

"Now, Barça remains Barca. It is a club certainly different from the others because it is the socios who vote for the President. And now, the choice will always be a choice of socios, not like in a French club where the President will always remain the President."
