Ex-Atletico Madrid No2 Burgos ready to step up: But I won't coach these three clubs

Former Atletico Madrid assistant coach Mono Burgos is ready to take a senior job.

Burgos left Atletico towards the end of last season.

"First, I will coach in Spain and then, one day if the opportunity arises, I will coach River Plate, but I will never take charge of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Boca Juniors because of my sense of belonging," Burgos said on GDM Radio.

"Doing such a thing would mean I was breaking my word.

"I've had interesting conversations with great teams; I'm preparing together with my coaching staff and I wanted to take a gamble."

Diego Simeone and Burgos had such a positive working relationship in Madrid, and the former assistant had nothing but good things to say about his former boss.

"You have to solve things and be close with the players, we have a great relationship," Burgos added.

"I sent him a message, and I understand that everyone has to start somewhere."
