Former Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni has reportedly admitted to his involvement in a betting ring that looked to influence results in Serie B and Serie A.
Doni was one of 17 people arrested on Monday on the allegation of involvement in an illegal betting network alleged to have been masterminded by criminal organisations in Singapore.
Several reports in Italy are indicating on Friday evening that Doni is believed to have admitted to a number of the allegations made against him.
The 38-year-old has also reportedly looked to exonerate his club Atalanta of any involvement or knowledge of the scam that is alleged to have attempted to affect the outcome of a number of 2009-10 and 2010-11 matches in Serie B and a few Serie A fixtures from last season.
