Former Aston Villa goalkeeper David James is urging the club to keep hold of Christian Benteke.
James believes Villa must resist the urge to cash-in on the frontman if they want a prolonged period of success with the club.
He told the Daily Express: "They would get a handsome reward if they sell Benteke, but he's an intrinsic part of what they are trying to do. He's a marquee player for them.
"It will be interesting to see what Tim Sherwood does in this transfer window.
"Villa fans want long-term success - not once every 20 years. Benteke is a massive part of that.
"There's not many players around with his strength and quality of finishing. He's top drawer. He doesn't seem to be involved in the game and then suddenly comes alive.
"He's good enough to play for a bigger side, but the requirements are different and he would need to adjust his game and be involved more."
