Ex-Aston Villa coach Wilkins: Grealish not a bad lad

Former Aston Villa coach Ray Wilkins has jumped to the defence of Jack Grealish.

Grealish was dropped to the U21s this week over attitude problems.

Wilkins told talkSPORT: “I know him very well and, believe me, he's a really, really nice young man.

“Tim had loads of chats with him and he was getting on the straight and narrow. He trained fantastically well.

“The only thing I would say to Remi Garde is: try and find a solution.

“This young man can play, he's a footballer and somewhere along the line the manager is going to have to bring him back in.

“The game against Watford is so big that he is the type of player who can produce something on the day. Obviously Remi isn't going to use him, but I hope that doesn't last for too long.

“Jack will go back to the Under-21s and he'll have his head between his legs, but he has the talent, the ability, to bounce back."
