John Hartson has tried to cool speculation that Neil Lennon would be prepared to leave his role as Celtic manager.
In the post-match reaction to Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the Northern Irish tactician said he would give up his job if the disgruntled Bhoys fans called for it but former teammate Hartson believes that is simply not the case.
"Neil Lennon and Celtic are a match made in heaven," the former Arsenal, West Ham United and Wales striker wrote in his column for SunSport.
"It would take something major for my old pal to walk out on a job he loves so much.
"Not for one minute do I think he would be forced out by a small minority of fans who lost the rag with him and told him what they thought.
"But that doesn't mean I wasn't stunned by his threat to quit if the punters wanted him to go.
"It is surprising for Lenny to say this - it really took me aback.
"What these people need to do is keep a bit of perspective.
"Yes, Celtic have lost a couple of games at home, but they have always slipped up at home along the way. That's nothing new.
"Ultimately, Celtic are still top of the league with a game in hand. There is no issue for me.
"They will go on to win the SPL - and Lenny will be the man in charge when they do it."
