Ex-Arsenal, Tottenham defender Campbell formally retires

Former Arsenal and Tottenham defender Sol Campbell has announced his retirement.

Campbell made 646 appearances for five different clubs between 1992 and 2011, as well as winning 73 international caps.

He made his professional debut aged 18 for Tottenham and stayed at White Hart Lane for 10 years before controversially crossing north London to join Arsenal.

Campbell won two league titles and two FA Cups during a five-year spell with the Gunners, as well as captaining the famous 'Invincibles' side that went the 2003-4 season unbeaten.
