Former Arsenal and England striker Paul Merson says the Three Lions have no chance with Manchester United youngster Danny Welbeck in attack.

He wrote in the Daily Star: "We don't even have a world-class goalscorer. Wayne Rooney is world class, but not as a goalscorer.

"Danny Welbeck? No. You won't win a World Cup with him up front - or Carroll!

"Look at the Spain bench and you will see how far behind we are.

"Juan Mata, Fernando Torres, Fernando Llorente - they would all walk into the England team. Says it all really."
