Ex-Arsenal midfielder Robson: Lack of leadership cost Gunners

Stewart Robson suggests Arsenal's lack of leadership led to their 3-1 loss to Monaco on Wednesday night.

Arsene Wenger's Gunners crashed to the French side at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League Round of 16 in what was an extremely mediocre performance by the home team.

Ex-midfielder Robson detected a distinct lack of direction from Arsenal's more senior players and was also critical of the way manager Wenger reacted on the sidelines when they conceded each of their three goals with the second and third certainly avoidable.

"There was just a lack of organisation and understanding as a team, it was absolutely shocking," Robson said on talkSPORT's Kick-Off program.

"When you're losing the game, that's when your team needs some organisation, that's when, as a manager, you need to get to the side of the pitch and tell your players what to do and where to go.

"But where's Wenger? He's sat there with his hands in his head almost, just watching the game.

"Where is the leadership?"
