Ex-Arsenal midfielder Petit backs Blanc to leave France post

Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit is of the belief that Laurent Blanc may soon quit as manager of the France national team.

Again off-field controversies have overpowered Les Bleus' chances at a major tournament with their Euro2012 quarter-final loss to Spain on Saturday night overshadowed by Samir Nasri's run-in with the press and reported fighting within the dressing room.

All appeared fine pre-tournament but again France have self-destructed with ex-midfielder Petit suggesting Blanc may be fed up.

"Knowing Laurent Blanc, he will be starting to have enough, but I hope he will stay," Petit told RMC.

"The players must be called into question and Blanc must have had enough with the behaviour of some of them. A new challenge with a club side would probably be best for him."
