Jason Banton admits he has always had a ‘thing’ for America as he goes about trying to get a MLS opportunity.

The 19-year old London-born midfielder is involved in the 2012 MLS Player Combine and has indicated that he would love to get the chance to win a deal with a North American club after spending time in the region when younger.

“My family actually goes to New York every year for Thanksgiving,” Banton MLSsoccer.com. “We have family there and in Toronto so I’ve just always had a thing for America.”

Banton, who kicked off his career as a seven-year old with Arsenal, has also had spells with Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool, before spending time with Leicester City and Burton Albion last year, added that his career path has been much different to most other players at the combine.

“It’s a bit different when you speak to some of the other guys,” Banton added.

“Some of them are 23 or 24 and they’re just leaving school where as I started off at Arsenal from the age of 7, Blackburn bought me when I was 16. I’m 19 now and have been doing fulltime football for about two or three years.”
