Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Jermaine Pennant is in talks with Billericay Town.
The Sun says the 2007 Champions League finalist, 34, has agreed to join the Essex part-timers despite interest from Scottish Premier League side Hibs.
He is due to sign a two-year deal with seventh tier Billericay after playing for them in a friendly against Leyton Orient tomorrow.
The Bostik Premier League big-spenders, owned and managed by steel magnate Glenn Tamplin, will pay Pennant around £3,000-a-week in a division where the average wage is just £200.
Pennant will be the third ex-Premier League star to join the club following the arrivals of Paul Konchesky and Jamie O'Hara last season.
