Ex-Arsenal, Everton keeper Wright training with FC Dallas

English goalkeeper Richard Wright has linked up with FC Dallas for a chance to win a contract with the MLS club somewhere down the track.

The 34-yer old former Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United gloveman, currently in his third stint with Championship outfit Ipswich Town, is having a brief training spell so Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman can cast an eye over him.

"We felt like this year we wanted to really raise our goalkeeping situation," Hyndman told MLSsoccer.com.

"Last year we carried four goalkeepers, but we weren't sure who that fourth goalkeeper would be. Instead of signing someone, we have the opportunity to look at a few keepers and see if there's someone we might want to sign in the summer window or maybe someone we might want to have on our radar for next year."

But Hyndman ruled out a move prior to the 2012 season, suggesting a summer transfer may be more likely.

"He's done well for us," added Hyndman. "But if we do anything, we might do a pre-contract.

"I don't think so. He's a goalkeeper that would want to come in and be competing for a No. 1 spot. This will give us a chance to see if he's in that category."
