Former Arsenal defender Matthew Upson says new manager Unai Emery must improve their back four.
Borussia Dortmund's Sokratis Papastathopoulos is among those to have been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer.
Upson told the Daily Star: “For sure, for sure, I think it's a key area of the pitch that has been struggling of late.
“[They've had] injuries, players coming towards the end of their time at the club.
“So I'm sure there'll be a fresh face or two in that area of the pitch.
“For me it's more about when you're a new manager, you've come into a new club that's been held by a manager for so long, for 20 years, you're going to have different ideas and styles of play, it's about that process of implementing that into the players.
“I think that's what takes the time and is the most difficult thing."
