Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown was delighted for Danny Welbeck after his goal for Manchester United in their draw at Real Madrid.

Keown wrote in the Daily Mail: "The last Englishman to score for an English club away to Real Madrid was Leeds' Alan Smith in 2001. Danny Welbeck deserved to be the next.

"He played in the same role as he did for England against Brazil and he excelled again. Out wide, Welbeck does the same amount of work as a winger and he carries more of a goal threat. His header was a great finish."
