Ryan Smith will sit out the rest of the MLS season with Sporting Kansas City because of family issues.
The 24-year old former Arsenal, Leicester City, Derby County, Millwall, Southampton and Crystal Palace man has been finding things difficult in recent weeks and will concentrate on family issues rather than soccer.
"The last four weeks, he's been fighting it a bit," said Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes. "He talked to me a few days ago about some family issues he's been dealing with from afar. Some of it is stuff that occurred last year, and there is some new stuff.
"It's not to say he's gone forever," Vermes added. "He could (come back). Anything could happen. The door is by no means closed on this situation. He really wanted to be here he just had to take care of some things, family wise.
"He's a good player and he brings some different qualities to the game. But at the same time, we really didn't have those this year, just because he was injured and he was trying to get fit."
