Former Almeria coach Javier Rodríguez Vílchez is surprised Suso is not playing for the first team.

Suso arrived in January from Liverpool.

"Frankly I'm surprised that Suso never plays," Vílchez told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He's young, he needs affection and guarantees. I understand that it's difficult to stake everything on him, given he's just arrived and is 21 but in my experience Suso is not afraid and doesn't shy away from responsibility.

"And another thing, I spoke to the lad just before he signed for Milan and he was full of enthusiasm. He said he was convinced it was the right place to well, to make the step up. It wasn't.

"I used him in big games, like at Sevilla or in the Calderon against Atletico and he did well, although obviously the needs and ambitions are different at Almeria than at Milan."
