Ex-Ajax midfielder Rosales re-signs with Vancouver Whitecaps

Vancouver Whitecaps have announced that Mauro Rosales has re-signed with the club.

The 33-year old Argentine attacking midfielder, who joined the Whitecaps in August this year, has opted out of the MLS Re-Entry Draft to sign a new contract. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson said in a statement: "We're very pleased to bring Mauro back.

"Mauro was a crucial part of our run to the playoffs last season. His experience and leadership will continue to be valuable to our squad."

Rosales, who counts Newell's Old Boys, Ajax, River Plate, Seattle Sounders and Chivas USA as his former clubs, revealed he had offers from other teams but decided to remain in Vancouver where he feels very content.

"I had offers but also teams that wanted to know my situation," Rosales said. "They wanted to know how things were going with Vancouver. They were waiting for me to start something, but I also had offers from outside of the country, in my country, and I had a few options in other leagues.

"I don't just think about the money. I'm just trying to be in a team that I feel very happy [in]. Vancouver was one of them, and that's it. My mind pointed me to being in a place where you're going to be happy, and Vancouver is the one."
